Did you know that on iTax, you normally have 4 attempts to enter your correct iTax Password? After these 4 login attempts, your iTax account gets temporarily locked and you have to unlock it by doing a complete iTax password reset. The message that pops up when you enter wrong iTax password is: “You have 4 attempt(s) left. Your account would be locked after 4 attempt(s).” Please check your password.
So, if you enter a wrong password on iTax 4 times, the iTax account gets locked immediately and you will see the message: “The account has been locked.” The good news is that you can easily unlock your iTax account online quickly and easily by resetting the password on iTax. So, if your iTax account gets locked, you need to know that you can unlock it through resetting the iTax account password. To be able to unlock your locked iTax account, you first need to ensure that you have both your KRA PIN Number and iTax registered email address.
The email address linked to your KRA PIN Number is quite important as it enables you receive the password reset email from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) that you need to use so as to unlock the locked iTax account online. If you don’t have access to the email address linked to your KRA PIN Number, you can request for it to be changed though our KRA PIN change of Email Address services. How To Unlock iTax Account
Step 1: Visit iTax
If your iTax account gets locked, the first and foremost step that you need to take is to visit iTax by using https://itax.kra.go.ke/KRA-Portal/
Step 2: Enter KRA PIN Number and Click on Forgot iTax Password
Next, enter your KRA PIN number and click on the “Forgot iTax Password” to begin the process of unlocking locked iTax account online.
Step 3: Fill the Forgot iTax Password Form
Once you reach this step in the process of unlocking locked iTax account, you need to fill in the forgot iTax Password online request form. You do this by solving the arithmetic question (security stamp) and clicking on the “Submit” button.
Step 4: iTax Password Reset for iTax Portal Account
Next, you need to check the Email Address linked to your KRA PIN Number (iTax Registered Email Address), where you will receive the iTax Password Reset email from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) which contains both your KRA PIN Number and the iTax Password Reset that has been sent by the system and this will serve as the old/temporary password that you will use to change the iTax Password on KRA Portal (iTax Portal). You need to use this password reset in the process of unlocking the locked iTax account.
Step 5: Visit iTax
Once you have received the password reset email from KRA, you need to once again visit iTax by using https://itax.kra.go.ke/KRA-Portal/
Step 6: Enter KRA PIN Number and iTax Password Reset
On the iTax account login page, enter your KRA PIN Number and the iTax Password Reset (old iTax password), solve the arithmetic question (security stamp) and click on the “Login” button.
Step 7: Setup a new iTax Password
This is the most important step in the process of unlocking iTax account as it entails setting up a new iTax password for the iTax account. In this final step, you will be required to fill in the following details/fields: Old Password (password reset that was sent to your email address), New Password (password that you will be using to access KRA Portal), Confirm New Password (the same password confirmation), Security Question, Security Answer, Confirm Security Answer and the Disclaimer Check Boxes (I Agree to the KRA Website Policy and Disclaimer and I have read the KRA Website Secure Password Policy Guideline). Once you have filled in all the security information required for iTax Password reset above, click on the “Submit” button. You will get a message that “Your KRA password has been successfully changed” on iTax account and this will log you into the iTax account automatically.
