Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has highlighted the successful registration of over 1000 developers on its GavaConnect Enterprise API platform, during the second edition of its API Masterclass. This initiative reinforces KRA’s digital transformation agenda and its commitment to co-creating innovative solutions with Kenya’s tech community.

Key Highlights:

  • GavaConnect platform: Currently hosts 16 APIs, including PIN and Tax Compliance Certificate checkers, NIL return filing, and e-Slip verification.
  • Developer adoption: Over 1000 developers have joined, signaling strong interest in tax-tech innovation and government service integration.
  • KRA leadership: Deputy Commissioner Annastacia Githuba emphasized that GavaConnect represents a milestone in tax digitization, giving developers opportunities to build, innovate and monetize solutions around tax compliance.
  • Hands-on collaboration: The API Masterclass featured demos, onboarding support, and feedback sessions to shape future API features.
  • Future expansion: KRA plans to extend GavaConnect APIs to cover eTIMS (electronic Tax Invoice Management System) and enhanced VAT compliance tools, making tax processes simpler and more efficient for businesses.

Through GavaConnect, KRA is setting the pace in the public sector by opening up government services to developers, fostering innovation, and driving Kenya’s digital tax revolution.
