If you are a Pensioner or Retiree and have an active KRA PIN Number, you are required to be filing your KRA Returns online each year before the set deadline of 30th June by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). Just like the other groups of taxpayers, pensioners or retirees also file KRA Returns online using KRA Portal (iTax Portal). Since once a person retires from active employment, normally PAYE deduction is stopped but he or she may continue to receive pension if it was part of the terms of employment.
So, if you are a pensioner in Kenya, you need to be filing KRA Returns in your iTax Portal (KRA Portal) each year as long as your KRA PIN Number is active. Failure to file KRA Returns for Pensioners attracts a penalty of Kshs. 2,000/= for each year not filed or for late filing of KRA Returns. So, as a pensioner you need to ensure that you file your KRA Returns online to avoid being penalized by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
To be able to file KRA Returns for Pensioners online using KRA Portal (iTax Portal), there are two key requirements that you need to ensure you have with you.
